How far along? 28 weeks!!! Officially the 3rd trimester! yowzer! Visited the midwives on Friday and I am measuring right on target with the due date (April 7).
Total weight gain: 16 lbs. I gained a pound in the last three weeks, which surprised me, since I have been eating everything in sight. As for the baby, I believe that she is between 2.5 and 3 lbs and measures at 15 inches or so. I can't believe that she's that big already!
Maternity clothes: My favorite, go to, clothes to wear are leggings with a dress or long shirt over them. Very comfortable. Now that I am popping out a bit more, the maternity clothes are fitting a little snugger (especially those skinny jeans) so I have a feeling I will be in sweatpants and leggings when I have 5 or so weeks left. We'll see!
Stretch marks: Not yet! Guess my ab muscles haven't moved over yet, my stomach feels kind of hard. When those muscles move over, the baby will drop some and the stretch marks will come out.
Sleep: I just got a cold (another one! errr), so sleep for the past few nights has been a little difficult. I sleep fine for the first half of the night, get up to go pee, and then realize that my throat is really sore and dry. So I drink some water and lay there and fixate on my sore throat until I fall asleep again. Oh and our dog, Carli, has been walking up in the middle of the night to bark at the dark abyss, so that's been a little irritating. Practice for late night feedings, I guess? Jeff also says that I am a heater now (and I felt just fine in pj pants and a sweater), so I had to change our sheets from the flannel sheets we love back to the light summer sheets, just so he doesn't suffer heat stroke in the night.
Best moment of the week? Visiting the midwives and getting the glucose test over with. It wasn't that bad (the sugary drink was GIGANTIC, but tasted like a melted popsicle... about 100 melted popsicles). Didn't receive a call after the bloodwork came back, which is a good thing. We also heard the baby's heartbeat again; strong and steady. I asked if there would be any more ultra sounds and told that there wouldn't be.... so we're both really excited to see what this little girl looks like when she comes out!
Miss anything? Italian subs dripping with olive oil.
Movement: Yes! The movement has been different this week. Last week she was a little gremlin squirming about and this week her movements are a bit calmer. The midwife said that she may have felt her head down already... which is awesome and may explain why I feel little hits in my bladder and giant juno-chop karate kicks into my ribs.
Food cravings: nope... italian subs... which I can't eat.
Gender: Still a girl! I printed out a ton of free pdf sewing tutorials for dresses, hats and booties that I found on pinterest and I am looking forward to making them... if I ever find the time!
Name? Are we bad parents if we say no? We've been looking and searching for names but just haven't found anything to settle on. There's always the old stand by of Stardust Moonbeam Greene or Baby Girl #1 if we can't find anything.
Anything make you queasy or sick? nope
Symptoms: The usual. More lower back pain this week, especially when I walk around a lot (like clean the house). I have schedule an appointment next week for a prenatal massage and I am very, very excited about it. I also experienced more Braxton-Hicks contractions this week; Friday was a particularly intense day. I had quiet a few and even the midwife felt one. She didn't seem too concerned about it, so I guess it's fine! I haven't had one since.
Exercise: Not really. I have been doing a little bit of yoga and stretching, but have not done any walking.
Mood: It's ok. I can be a grump or I can be happy.
Fears: That that baby will be breech. I am hopeful, though, that the midwife did feel the baby's head down...., which means she'll be ready to dive right out when the time comes. I'll know more in 2 weeks when I have my next appointment (and I'll be at 30 weeks then!)
Looking forward to? Getting the baby's room done. I have a long weekend coming up and hope that we can bust it out then. Oh and my birthday is this week too! If you want to give me a present, become a follower of the Meanie Greene blog. I am only 6 away from 100!
Have a great day!

Don't worry too much if she's breech. Some babies choose to be born this way; it's just a variation on normal and no reason to not deliver the way you intend, as long as everything else looks good. And I'm convinced that you'll never end up with stretch marks; if you haven't gotten them by now it's very likely that you won't.
ReplyDeleteYeh, I guess my fear of her being breech is also my fear of being in a hospital setting and that they will rush me in for an emergency c section without trying any other options. I guess whatever happens will happen and I should be happy that a baby is on the way.... but I also want my body to delivery the way women are designed to deliver. anyway, probably no reason to worry about it right now!
