At 30 weeks

How far along? 30 weeks (and one day)! Only 10 short more weeks to go... so much to do! Although I primarily visit midwives, there are a few doctors in the practice which I also have to meet throughout my pregnancy. Today I met one of them and he told me that my file was the most normal file he's seen in a few weeks... so that's good!  I have to say that I definitely prefer the midwives, so much more personable! I was only with the doctor for 5 minutes (to hear the baby's heartbeat and to measure my growth) and I was on my way!

Total weight gain? 17lbs

Maternity clothes: Yes and the pants are really uncomfortable  now.  They are comfy in theory, but as soon as I start to move around or bend over to pick something up, they slide down. This is very uncomfortable! I guess I am just going to have to deal with it though.  Although I don't love how buttons on normal jeans bite into my stomach, I am more willing to have that than my jeans around my ankles. Can't wait to wear normal jeans!  I was out shopping yesterday and picked up a cute summer dress, in my normal size.... looking forward to summer!!

Stretch marks: Nothing new yet!

Sleep: Super-amazing-awesome! Even with the gigantic full moon we had this week, I still slept well.  Hopefully this lasts for a while!

Best moment of the week: Baby's room is almost complete. Jeff picked up a crib last week and we managed to get the closet shelving unit installed. We still have to paint the trim, which will probably happen this weekend.

I met with my sister on Sunday at a fancy brunch place and we discussed the baby shower.  The brunch was DELICIOUS and we sort of figured out the baby shower.... It was fun to hang out, just the two of us! She left her two gremlins at home and with mine still in my belly, it was nice and peaceful to have focused adult talk.

Miss anything? the usual. I miss warm weather!

Movement? All the time!  She doesn't seem to discriminate anymore and flutters/kicks/punches whenever she feels like it.  Some days are a little more quiet than other, but overall she seems pretty active.

Food cravings? FOOD (why is there never enough of it?!)

Gender: GIRL

Name? There are some names that we are considering, but further discussion is needed before we make it public.

Anything make you queasy or sick? no

Symptoms: Braxton Hicks, sleepiness, anxiety (why does my "to-do" list get longer and longer?)

Exercise: Nothing last week, but I am hoping to get on the treadmill for some walking this week... but I just have so much stuff to do!

Mood: Major mood-swingy.  Overall my mood improved this week, but I had some psychotic/ crazy mood swings.

Fears: Not getting the baby diapers made in time! For that matter, not having anything ready in time for the baby's arrival!

Looking forward to? Finishing some projects. I am starting to feel more nesty and itching to start some organization projects, so I guess I am looking forward to those too.

happy monday!

  1. I'm so glad to hear the Doc thought your file was normal. It breaks my heart to see young women let the Docs intervene in labor and delivery when it really isn't necessary. I wouldn't even consider an epidural. You want to remain in control from the first contraction to the first nursing of your baby. I delivered all of mine with no meds or intervention and it was the best experience. Guess that was before our torte claims got out of control. Anyway, those are my unsolicited gems of wisdom based on experience.

  2. My plan is to have a natural childbirth. I know that it will be a different kind of pain, but I am excited to experience it (not to mention the fun oxytocin rush at the end).
