At 34 weeks

Yesterday I had a wonderful baby shower thrown by my sister, sister-in-law and mother-in-law.  I had a fantastic time, received an abundance of baby gifts, and was able to hang out with some great folks.  My plan was to post about my pregnancy yesterday and the baby shower today, but I had a sick kitty at home that I had to rush to the emergency vet clinic 1.5 hours away after the shower (and my mom came with me, thank you!) The kitty is fine, luckily, but I didn't get home until 9:30pm and didn't feel much like blogging then!

How far along? 34 weeks and one day.  Feeling riper by the week.

Total weight gain? I'm thinking around 25lbs total (or more!). I'll know by the end of the week, I have another midwives appointment then. I have given in to the fact that I will probably gain around 30/35 lbs during this pregnancy.  Although I know that the weight will eventually disappear; since I have been trim my whole life, it is a little difficult to accept my changing body since it is going to territory I have never been before. No stopping it now!

Maternity clothes: My order from Old Navy came in. YAY! I purchased a few pairs of maternity leggings, this lovely green dress in the photo above, amongst other things. Now I am done.  With six weeks left, there's really no point to shop for clothes anymore.

Stretch marks? Just the usual.

Sleep? I was sleeping great at the beginning of the week (since it was vacation!), but have since decided to get up twice a night to pee, which completely disrupts my sleep schedule. Oh well!  I am a light sleeper anyway, so I still feel fairly rested.

Best moment of the week? The baby shower!! Also, I had a massage on Friday (which was so lovely I fell asleep during it) and got my hair cut and eyebrows waxed. Good day.

Miss anything? Touching my feet (which I wasn't really flexible enough to do it before, but now I miss it).  I painted my toenails on Saturday and I didn't realize beforehand what a task it would be.  I managed to get it done, but it was not comfortable at all and I knocked over my nail polish on the carpet (which is really no big deal, the carpet is a nasty, old, white carpet anyway.) I definitely plan on having Jeff remove the toenail polish for me so I don't fixate on my chipped toenail polish during labor, because I know I will.

Movement: She's still squirming about. Her movements have changed a bit and are a little painful at times, but I am happy to feel them.

Food cravings? nope

Gender: GIRL

Name? We're going to go in with a list of five or so names and will make our decision when we meet her.

Anything make you queasy or sick? nope

Symptoms: Braxton Hicks, baby movement, back aches, weird feeling joints, weight gain

Exercise: Yes, I walked 3-4 times this week with Carlie and did some yoga.
My mother playing a shower game where the guests have to guess my baby belly size. She won!
Mood: My mood has been pretty good, a little emotional, but not too psychotic.

Labor signs? Just Braxton Hicks and at times they happen more frequent than I like.  When I walk a lot or clean around the house all day along with my other chores I tend to get them more. I think it is mostly because I am a little dehydrated because I am so busy I forget to drink water.

Fears: Once again, I am feeling good about labor and delivery. Our house is basically all ready for the baby if she showed up tomorrow.

Looking forward to: Sorting through and washing all of the baby shower blankets and outfits.  I also get to do a little online shopping for some supplies that we didn't get. YAY!

To do list:
Finish organizing the nursery
Clean living room, bathrooms, bedroom, and kitchen
Start sewing the next size up baby diapers (these will have snaps and grow with the baby)
Make some freezer meals
Make sure I don't make the house a mess after I spent time cleaning it (trust me, I do this all the time)
Have a baby

have a wonderful Monday!

  1. Since you loved the massage, spring for a pedicure before you birth. I had Amanda do mine last week. What a luxury.
